The Effect of Different Protein Sources on Muscle Development.

 The intake of protein has been synonymous with muscle building. However, different sources of protein can actually have varying impacts on muscle building. Currently, research seems to show that animal proteins, especially those from dairy, have a greater effect on muscle-protein synthesis (muscle building). This may be explained by the fact that animal proteins are complete proteins, meaning that they contain all 9 of the essential amino acids, while plant proteins are considered incomplete proteins as they are missing at least one essential amino acid. Therefore, animal proteins may provide increased energy expenditure, satiety, fat loss, and muscle-protein synthesis.
