Aerboic Training or Aenarobic Training?

Whether you should train aerobically or anaerobically all depends on your goals. Some people think that to get big muscles, they have to run or bike a lot. That is not the case. In fact, running or biking a lot will make you smaller. Running and biking are aerobic activities, meaning that they work the type-1 muscle fibers that are for long distance. These activities will result in muscle loss and an increase in endurance abilities. However, if one does weightlifting or sprinting for example, one can expect an increase in muscle size and power. These types of activities work the type-2 muscle fibers that increase strength, size, and power. However, these fibers cannot function for long periods of time.

On the other hand, aerobic activities and cardio are essential for heart health and longevity. This doesn't mean big muscles can't be achieved. It's just that cardio shouldn't be the prime focus. A good amount to hit is 30 minutes a day, 3-5 times a week. While the benefits of aerobic training mainly concern the cardiovascular system, anaerobic training has a wide range of effects. These effects can include increased immune system function, increased bone strength, increased secretion of HGH, improved physical appearance, etc. In all, whatever style of training one should choose should be the one that best matches their goals.
